Greatest Hits Puts An Exclamation On Band’s Lengthy Legacy

(New York, NY): On the heels of The Apples in stereo’s release of “#1 Hits Explosion,” a greatest hits album featuring psychedelic pop at its finest, Robert Schneider is poised to be a featured keynote interview at Australia’s Big Sound Music Conference in Brisbane, Australia on September 9-11, 2009.

Schneider will be seen and heard alongside other important speakers at Big Sound, including Van Dyke Parks, legendary lyricist for Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys.

This will mark the first time that Schenider will perform Apples material in Australia and comes shortly after one of the band’s hit songs, “Energy,” has been featured in a major advertising campaign in the country. Schenider will also perform two other public shows:

Saturday September 12 – Sydney – Hopetoun Hotel – 8pm doors
Sunday September 13 – Melbourne – The Workers Club – 4pm doors

“#1Hits Explosion” will be released through Yep Roc, Simian and E6 Records physically with digital going through the band. Fans can purchase the 16 track compilation directly from the band at Applesinstereo.com.

Robert Schneider, the mind behind one of indie-rock’s seminal music groups, The Apples in stereo, will be releasing his debut children’s music album under the character name Robbert Bobbert for the Little Monster Records label on January 20th, 2009.

The Apples in Stereo front man Robert Schneider was stoked when comedian Mike Meyers asked him to perform in his latest goof The Love Guru, released today. He just didn’t expect to get his glasses broken during a three-day bar fight.

In this exclusive video for Listening Post, Schneider discusses the brawl, in which he appears while performing a cover of the 1949 bluegrass standard “Foggy Mountain Breakdown.” As Schneider explains, The Love Guru’s music supervisor contacted The Apples in Stereo’s management about covering the classic, after finding out that Meyers was a fan of the band. Schneider was asked to upgrade the Flatt and Scruggs tune, which he describes as “‘Louie Louie’ for bluegrass,” with the backing of traditional Kentucky bluegrassers The McKendrees. Meyers then asked him to perform it in the film, and score a bonus cameo.
